5Best Oakleys yetJul 06, 2009
By Michael T. Clayton "Mike C"
This is my third pair of Oakley sunglasses. Previously I had two pair of Minute 1.0 shades. The two pair had combined to last 10 years total with minor repairs. My lenses were getting scratched and it was time for new rubbers so I set on getting a new pair.

For those not intimately familiar with Oakley, they put out an outstanding product for the discerning consumer. If you are tired of $15 sunglasses that break at the slightest flex, or fed up with poor lens quality that gives you headaches at the end of a long day outside, then Oakley is for you.

To be honest, at first I was not totally sold on any new Oakley style. A lot has changed in four years since I bought my last pair (the design of which by the way was then already 6-7 years old and getting ready to be phased out). The more I looked however the more I decided I wanted a practical sport style, as opposed to a fashion style. I decided to get a pair of the Flak Jackets, with jet black frames and black iridium polarized XLJ lenses. The clarity is truly top notch. The "rubbers" (Unobtanium) on the nose pads and ear stems grips so well all the time even if you're sweating. The fit feels like they are custom made. I especially like the wide open view of the XLJ lenses. The lenses extend further down to give greater coverage but they are not so huge as to get in the way or make you feel like you are wearing a ski mask. Oakley's website will have way better descriptions of all the details, but sum it up to say I love the shades.

If you aren't ready to spend good money on good sunglasses then you can go down to your gas station and pick out a pair right now that was made in China. Oakley definitely does not scrimp on quality and you get what you pay for. This will be evident the first time you wear them outside (and no, you cannot tell the full quality you are getting from inside the Sunglass Hut indoors). This is also my first pair of polarized lens in any sunglasses. Truly I could not be any more thrilled with my purchase. I continue to be a loyal Oakley customer.

4Solid sunglassesDec 29, 2010
By William C. Jenczyk "Bill Jenczyk"
I have had some opportunity to use these sunglasses, and they have proved to be very comfortable, and do a good job of blocking the sun while providing good vision. The fit is snug on my head, but not uncomfortably so. I have used the sunglasses while using snowshoes in clean snow on a totally sunny day, and they blocked the glare from the sky and the snow very well. I am pleased with the purchase.

I own them, I have jumped in our pool a few times with them on and they are not damaged by the water and stay on. Plus Great for a full 12 hour shift in the sun. Best Sunglasses I have, Great Lens and Style

2Transition Lenses FailedAug 15, 2011
By Garron
Purchased a pair of Flak Jackets with transition lenses three years ago. Both lenses developed numerous tiny web-like flaws in the lens coating that made it impossible to see clearly. Took the glasses to the local Oakley outlet and they said they had never seen anything like that. They suggested I return the glasses to Oakley which I did. The factory was responsive - a representative called and admitted it was a manufacturer's defect, but since the lenses were outside the warranty period that there was nothing Oakley could do for me unless I was willing to pay $95 for replacement lenses. I'm sorry, but three years on a set of lenses doesn't cut it. Three stars for customer response and zero stars for product quality. My next shades will be other than Oakley.

5Flak Jacket XLJJun 17, 2011
By bhornet_1046
I work in a very bright and sunny desert environment with constant blowing sand. I have owned several sunglasses from various manufacturers over the years as well as a couple from Oakley. Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ are the best overall that I have ever worn. I've worn prescription glasses for more than 20+ years with costs exceeding $350.00 a pair and was always having difficulty with my eyes. The Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ are non prescription and I no longer have problem with my eyes as with my prescription glasses. This is the best investment I could have made and I highly recommend these sunglasses. Take the test, Try Oakley First and you will not be disappointed. These sunglasses are so good, I'm thinking of purchasing another pair as a backup and for emergencies.
